Message from the founder: Latonyia Heard

Latonyia's Caring Heart is a newly founded Non-Profit Organization, whose Executive Director has a heart for the less fortunate. She herself is a single mother of four boys. Three of which are now adults, one is on the Autistic spectrum, and the youngest she lovingly welcomed into her family after his birth mother was unable to care for him. Latonyia was a recipient of public assistance, food banks, back to school giveaways and other organizations that were setup to provide much needed help. As her children have grown into adulthood, and fiscally things are looking up for her, she wants to give back in the way she received as these programs and people saw her through some tough times. Over the last three years Latonyia has dedicated thousands of dollars of her own money to support the youth by setting up a back to school drive providing backpacks and school supplies, she donated meals to the the adverse youth via Escape Ministries, and even took one into her own home. She has also provided countless food boxes to the elderly. After years of serving in her in own right, In August 2024 she decided to make it official and start up her own organization. As a way to officially set roots in the community. Latonyia is Looking to serve lunch for the homeless population in Michigan City bi-weekly. The goal is to feed the homeless and provide a caring heart to at least 500 people each month.
